Video Game Movies

Uwe Boll bites back
games journalists, Boll argues, should be pleased that videogame-based movies are getting made at all. "It's tough to convince someone from the studio system to believe in a videogame-based movie. It's way easier to have a great book or to have a comic book [as your source material], because these studio guys, they know Spider-Man, Batman, that kind of stuff."

Lets get right into this by me simply stating, I hate Uwe Boll. I don't want video game movies. Here's a good slogan for your next movie, Uwe, "Why play it when you can watch it?"

Yes, that's my thought on it. Movies based on video games are on the same level as books based on movies. They're not needed, and often not wanted. Just like books based on movies, movies based on games are quick cash-ins. They're just 'give the consumer some shit that they'll pay us for!' schemes.

Boll argues that people are watching his movies. This is true, but why are they watching them? Is it because they're good? Hell no.

Fans of House of the Dead will watch a movie based on it. Same with Alone in the Dark and BloodRayne. People like those games. Fans of certain products with buy things under the same name. How else do you think Nintendo ever sold any Virtual Boys?

Ouch, my eyes!
I have a headache just thinking about it. How I was ever
actually able to play on this thing, I'll never know.

Point is, if I want to experience a game, I'll play the game. I don't want to watch a movie about it.

Uwe Boll, please stop making video game movies. You can make any sort of movie you want, just leave my beloved gaming industry alone.

Hey, folks, Here's a little avatar I made that conveys my feelings quite well.
I'm an Idiot

You and your unloved game blog...
Movies based on games are generally crap. But wasn't Final Fantasy VII Advent Children pretty good?

Silent Hill seems to be doing well.

The difference between it and some of it's "filial" theatrical endeavours?

Uwe Boll had nothing to do with it.
